Preconditions
The following conditions must be in place before you can activate the Lane 3000 & 3600 credit card devices in your foreUP account:
- Your foreUP Payments processing credentials must be configured and entered on the backend of your foreUP account (If you are unsure if this is the case, please contact your Implementation Specialist or our Support Team)
- You must already have terminals in your foreUP software account (e.g.: Pro Shop 1, Pro Shop 2, Server Station, etc.)
- Unbox the device and ensure the required components are present:
- Lane 3000 or Lane 3600 device itself
- 1 HDMI cord
- 1 Power supply
- Minimum network speeds are at least 10 Mbps
Important IT Information
If your network is configured with firewalls or other traffic restrictions, please ensure your network is configured with the following items (you may need to consult an IT professional to assist with your network configuration):
- Ensure the network configuration is not blocking access to the following URLs and ports:
- tripos.vantiv.com HTTPS on port 443
- device.tripos.vantiv.com TCP on port 9001
Power on the Lane 3000 or 3600 Device
To get started, follow the initial steps below to power up your Lane 3000 device:
- Take the Lane 3000 or 3600 device, turn it over, and plug in the HDMI cord into the back of the device
- At the other end of the HDMI cord, there will be two cords:
- Power supply
- Ethernet
- Take the power supply cord and plug it into the power supply end of the HDMI cord
- Plug in the Ethernet end of the HDMI cord to an Ethernet switch/port connected to your network
- Plug the power supply into a wall outlet
- The device will power on and display an activation code. You will use this code later on in the registration process in the foreUP software as outlined below (if your device does NOT populate an activation code, see the FAQ section below for troubleshooting steps)
Register the Lane 3000 or 3600 in the foreUP Software
Follow the steps below to register the Lane 3000 or 3600 credit card reader in your foreUP software account:
- Log into foreUP
- Click on the top-left module dropdown and select Settings
- In the column on the left, select Sales
- In the middle blue column, select Printing and Terminals
- Click on the blue button Manage Credit Card Device on the right (If this button is not shown, contact foreUP Support)
- Click Add Device in the top right
- On the Register Credit Card Devices page, fill in the following information:
- Device Name: Name the device the same name as the terminal you wish to register the device to (e.g.: Pro Shop 1)
- Device Type: Click on the dropdown and select LANE 3000 or 3600
- Device Activation Code: Enter the device activation code displayed on the Lane 3000 screen. This code will start with the letter "P" followed by six numbers. The code itself resets every 15 minutes. Be sure you have the device's current code when entering it into foreUP (If the device is NOT populating an activation code, please see the FAQ section below for troubleshooting steps)
- Terminal: Click on the dropdown and select the terminal you want to register the Lane 3000 to
- Click Register Device in the bottom right
- You will get a loading screen that may last several minutes while the software registers your device.
- The device itself will restart and return to the home screen, which should display as foreUP Payments (if the device restarts and instead displays TriPOS as the home screen, follow the instructions found in the FAQ section below)
- The loading screen in foreUP will disappear once the device is successfully registered. You will see a green "Device Successfully Registered" confirmation message in the bottom right. Once you see this message, click Save Changes in the bottom right and refresh your browser.
- You will now want to run a test transaction to ensure the device is working by doing the following:
- Navigating to the Sales module and ensure you are logged into the foreUP terminal you just registered the new credit card device under
- Add an item to the POS shopping card and click Credit Card
- The transaction will be sent to the credit card device, prompting you to Insert, Swipe, or Tap to pay. For this first test transaction, you MUST use the chip insert , as this helps to complete the configuration of the credit card device. You can insert, swipe, or tap on any transaction after the first test transaction.
- And that's it! You are ready to start processing integrated credit card payments!
FAQ
Q: The Lane 3000 device booted up but will not display an activation code. It is stuck on the TriPOS screen. What should I do?
A: If your device is not populating an activation code, it has not located a secure connection. Follow the troubleshooting suggestions below in order from top to bottom:
- Try unplugging the ethernet cable from the ethernet switch/port and either:
- Re-plug it back into the same ethernet switch/port (sometimes the connection does not seat the first attempt)
- Try plugging the ethernet cable into a different port on the switch. Restart the device once this is done (press and hold down the yellow and # keys at the same time)
- If this still does not work, you should plug the Lane 3000 directly into a port on the modem/router.
- If the device populates an activation code after plugging directly into the modem/router, the issue is with your switch or network cables running from your modem/router to the switch.
- If the device still does NOT populate an activation code, ensure you follow the network configuration steps in the Important IT Information section above.
- You may have a defective device if the device still does not populate an activation code. Contact foreUP Support for assistance.
Q: I successfully registered the device, and it restarted; however, after the restart, it is still displaying a TriPOS home screen. How do I get the device to display the foreUP Payments home screen?
A: You can do one of two things:
- Restart the device by pressing and holding the yellow and # key at the same time to restart the device manually
- Once you run your first transaction, the home screen will change from TriPOS to foreUP Payments
Q: Can I see what IP address is assigned to the credit card device?
A: Yes! On the Lane 3000, press "0000" to open the admin menu. Scroll down until you see the IP address.
