Overview:
This article will show you how to give the option to sell a gift card using the online customer portal. Customers will have the ability to purchase a gift card and send the gift card to somebody else if desired.
Preconditions:

Must have Access to the "Settings" module

Must allow customers to have access to an Online Customer Portal.
Steps:
Follow the below steps to allow online gift card sales:
1. Go to the Settings module.
2. Select the "Online Customer Portal" tab and then the "Reservation View Settings".
3. Check the box for the setting "Allow Gift Card Purchases Online".
4. Go to the upper right corner of the page and select 'Save Settings'.
- What you will see online:
1. Go to your online booking link.
2. You will now see an option to 'Buy Gift Card'.
- How they are purchased:
1. Customers will be required to log in or register before they purchase a gift card.
2. Simply select denomination, an email address for the virtual card to be sent to (if you don't select one, it will just send to the account email), and add a message.
3. Complete the transaction.
4. The purchaser will then be able to print the card if they wish.
- What the customer will receive:
Here is an example email of the gift certificate received by a customer.
Note: If you do not give a physical card, you can scan this barcode from a mobile device.
- How the gift cards appear in foreUP:
1. Go to the Gift Cards module.
2. The 'Notes' section of the gift card will show the purchaser of the card and the recipient of the card.
3. You can change the number of the card by scanning a physical card if you wish. You can also change the name of the customer from the purchaser to recipient if the recipient has a customer account in foreUP, if not you can create one.
