This article will walk you through how to allow a customer to use their loyalty points for purchases.
Preconditions:
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
- Must have a loyalty program set up in the Settings module. Follow this article for step-by-step instructions for setting up a loyalty program
- Access to the Sales Module
- Customers must have the ability to use loyalty points
Steps:
Follow the below steps to use loyalty points as a payment method:
1. Verify that the customer/s are allowed to use loyalty points as a payment method by viewing their customer profile in the Customer module and checking that the 'Allow Loyalty' setting is checked
2. Go to the Sales module and add inventory items eligible for payment with loyalty points to the cart. Then add the customer profile to the sale. If the customer has accrued any loyalty points, they will display on the right side of the profile. Select 'Pay Now'.
3. Select 'Loyalty Points' as the payment method in the pop up box. If there are enough points to cover the transaction the sale will complete. If not, select a different payment method to cover the remaining balance.

Q: Why is the Loyalty Points payment method grayed out for the customer?
A: This may be because the customer has not been allowed to use loyalty points. View Step 1 to make sure the customer has the Allow Loyalty setting checked in their profile
