Credit Card Surcharges
ForeUp allows for charging credit card transactions an additional fee ("convenience fee" or "surcharge") and that can be set up within the settings for the business. In our case, all card transactions are recognized as the same, whether it is a debit card or a credit card. It is my understanding that surcharges on debit cards are illegal in all 50 states. I am curious to know what other courses are doing to allow them to charge the additional fee legally. ForeUp Support is dodging the question and not providing any help and our Account Manager seems to be very unavailable to discuss this.

Jeff,
I am adding the charge next season to my credit card users as well. I just observed a sign at a restaurant that stated a flat $1 was added to any credit card user total. I have warned my golfers all this season that 3% will be added to credit, not debit, use in 2024. To remedy the situation, I may go to the flat $1 fee myself. It will be over 3% in some cases and under for my weekend rates. The issue is that my seniors are the most penny conscious and would complain the most about the over 3% by $1 charge.

I addressed surcharge issue with support. They have confirmed that they are developing identification logic that will not apply a surcharge when debit card is used, in golf shop, F&B and Billing Premier modules. I hope the can get this done before 2024 season. Our world pay expense last year averaged close to 4%.
