Magtek card reader miss reads
Good afternoon, I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced miss reads (on a consistence basis) using their Magtek card reader. We cannot go "Live" until we resolve this issue. Our experience with a 16 digit number Gift Card is that the reader is reading the first seven numbers, dropping the 8th-12th numbers and reading the 13th-16th numbers?? This is happening in the Sales Modules when selling a Gift Card. Once the Gift Card Detail popup displays and "New" is selected we scan the gift card and the above occurs. If I select "Reload" and scan the gift card all 16 digits appear followed by a ? and ; then all 16 digits appear for a second time.

I'm pretty sure we have the same card reader (just a small swiper that you swipe the card through?) they're garbage. We've been dealing with CC processing issues for years now (also with this Gift Card issue not reading all the numbers - so I have to manually check the card when I sell it in the rain checks report and edit the number to include all 16 numbers) I have been informed that I need to upgrade to better card readers w/ the tap to pay and newer technology.
