Overview
The Event Calendar provides an intuitive and efficient way to promote and manage events directly through your website. The calendar enhances visitor engagement by presenting events in a clear, organized format that’s easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile devices. Each event can include detailed information such as time, location, images, and registration links, ensuring members and guests have all the details they need in one place. In this article you will learn:
- How to create events
- A summary of options within the Event Module
Prerequisites
- Ensure you have website editing permissions in the CMS.
- Prepare event details ahead of time: dates, times, names, images, descriptions.
- Decide whether events will be one-off or recurring, and gather any relevant rules (e.g., “Every Thursday league”, “Monthly member dinner”).
- Determine where the calendar should appear on your site (homepage section, dedicated events page, sidebar).
- Consider how you want users to interact: will they click into events for details, or filter by category (e.g., “Tournaments”, “Leagues”)?
Creating Events
The Event Module gives you a simple way to add, edit, and manage upcoming events—such as tournaments, leagues, and member activities—all within your website dashboard.
Events can be created from either the calendar itself, or on the dashboard. To create a new event from the dashboard:
- Log in to your foreUP Website CMS dashboard.
- From the left-hand navigation menu, select Events.
- This section displays all existing events on your website, as well as tools for adding, editing, or organizing events.
- Click Add New Event to open the Event Editor.
- The Event Editor works similarly to the page editor—you can use content blocks, drag-and-drop elements, and built-in styling tools to create a well-designed event page.
Enter Event Details
- Click into an area in order to edit. For example, click on the title to update the name of the event.
- Event Title: Add a descriptive name (e.g., “Brunch with Santa”).
- Date & Time:
- Select the start and end dates.
- Set start and end times (e.g., 11:00 AM–2:00 PM).
- For multi-day events, choose a full date range.
- Recurring Events:
- Use Repeat This Event for repeating schedules—daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
- Set the frequency and end date.
- Add exceptions for specific dates the event should skip.
- Select Add Description... to describe the event (rules, format, additional notes).
- If there is a cost associated, Click $ Add Price to add an entry fee (e.g., “$15 per person”).
- Organizer:
- Add the event organizer’s name and contact information.
- Choose an existing organizer or create a new one.
- Venue:
- Specify the event location (e.g., “Dining Room”).
- Include an address and allow Google Maps integration if desired.
Additional Content
- Just like editing web pages, drag and drop content blocks into the event page to add images, flyers, or extra sections.
- For example, you can upload a tournament flyer or promotional image at the bottom of the event page.
Review and Publish
- On the right-hand panel, configure feature images, excerpts, tags, and categories.
- Drafts can be saved at any time by selecting Save draft.
- When everything looks correct, click Publish.
- The event will immediately appear on your website calendar.
- Refresh the page to confirm the newly created event is displayed.
Tip: Clicking an event on the calendar will open the full event page, showing details such as date, description, location, entry fee, and any related events.

- Use recurring event functionality for regular happenings (weekly leagues, monthly dinners) to reduce repetitive data entry.
- Ensure images/icons are optimized for web (small file size, correct dimensions) so page load remains fast.
- Monitor usage and user feedback—if events are not being clicked or filters ignored, consider simplifying layout or categories.
- Embed the calendar in a high-visibility area (e.g., homepage banner or club news page) to maximize awareness of upcoming events.
