FAQ
Q: What credit card devices support on-device tipping?
A: The Lane 3000, Lane 3600, and the Link 2500
Q: What does the on-device tipping workflow look like?
A: Here is the workflow for on-device tipping:
- The foreUP user added items to the shopping cart
- The foreUP user clicks "Credit Card" in foreUP to send the shopping cart to the device for payment, and will receive a pop-up window in foreUP letting the user know the transaction has been sent to the device
- The credit card device will show the transaction total and prompt the cardholder to leave a tip:
- If the cardholder selects "Yes" to adding a tip, they can then select from the following tip options:
- If they choose the OTHER option, they will manually key in the tip amount on the keypad of the credit card device
- Once the tip has been selected, the credit card device will then prompt the cardholder to tap/insert/swipe their credit card:
- Once the cardholder has tapped/inserted/swiped their card, the credit card device will then ask them to confirm the new total (original amount + tip):
- Once the cardholder has confirmed the new total, the transaction will process and be completed
- The receipt that is printed will have the tip amount on it
- When viewing the transaction in the foreUP sales reports, in the payment details, the tip amount will show that it specifically came from the on-device tipping workflow
Q: Once on-device tipping has been enabled, will that prompt for every transaction completed on that terminal to follow the on-device tip workflow?
A: Yes, once on-device tipping has been enabled for a foreUP terminal, EVERY sales transaction that is processed through that terminal will prompt the cardholder to leave a tip
Q: How do I turn off on-device tipping?
A: Follow the steps above and set the On-Device Tipping setting to No. The credit card device will go through a rebooting sequence to remove the on-device tipping setting
