Overview
This article explains the difference between Traditional Tee Sheets, and Calendars in the foreUP platform. It will help you understand when to use each and how they work together to manage time and bookings effectively.
Traditional tee sheets are designed for standard golf play and individual bookings, while Calendars allow you to block and manage time as a resource for events, amenities, and non-standard use cases.
Preconditions
Before using Calendars, ensure the following:
- You have access to the Tee Sheet Software module
- Your user role includes permission to create and manage reservations
- Calendars are enabled for your course
Understanding the Difference
Traditional Tee Sheet
- Built around fixed tee time intervals (e.g., every 8–10 minutes)
- Designed for standard golf play
- Tracks players, carts, and pace of play
- Best for daily operations and public/member bookings
- Managed within Settings > Reservations > Tee Sheets
Calendars
Calendars expand beyond golf-specific scheduling by allowing you to manage non-golf resources using time-based booking.
- Built around flexible time blocks, not tee time intervals
- Instead of booking a start time (tee time), users book a block of time
- Designed for events and non-standard usage
- Calendars are managed separately from tee sheets within:
- Settings > Reservations > Calendars
NOTE: The Calendars feature may be enabled or visible depending on your account setup and configuration.
When to Use Calendars
Use Calendars when your scheduling needs do not fit standard tee time structures.
Common scenarios include:
- Bookings that don’t match standard tee sheet usage
- Activities that span multiple blocks of time
- Calendars can be used for:
- Simulator bays
- Lessons or instruction
- Practice ranges
- Pools, tennis courts, or other amenities
- Situations where player-level tracking is not required
- When you want a cleaner, less cluttered tee sheet view
Creating a Calendar Reservation
- Navigate to the Tee Sheet in the foreUP platform
- Use the sheet dropdown and select the desired Calendar
- Click on the start time where you want to create the booking
- Use the Reservation Type dropdown and select Reservation
- Enter the reservation details:
- Name (either customer name or group booking)
- Reservation Length
- Price Class being used
- Any Details
- Click Reserve
- Confirm the reservation appears as a blocked time range on the tee sheet
Best Practices
- Use Calendars for bookings where a location needs to be reserved
- Maintain consistent naming conventions for easy identification
- Block slightly more time than needed to avoid scheduling conflicts
- Use Calendars for non-golf amenities instead of overloading the tee sheet
Common Use Cases
- Clinics & Instruction
- Allocate time based on duration rather than tee intervals.
- Non-Golf Amenities
- Manage simulators, lessons, or facilities using flexible time blocks.
