Overview:
This article will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create a new employee, turn on permissions for an employee, and edit an existing employee.

Preconditions:
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
Access to the following module:
- Employees
- Must have Manager or Admin permission privileges
Steps: Part One
To create a new employee and turn on permissions, follow the below steps:
- Log into foreUP
- Click on the top-left module dropdown and select Employees
- Click New Employee + at the top
- The following information fields MUST be filled out under the Information tab:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Username (We recommend using the employee's email as the username)
- New Password (The password must be at least 8 characters. If you wish to require complex passwords, please see the below FAQ)
- Confirm Password
- Job Title
- Please Note: If you are creating an employee that will be using the Food & Bev module, you MUST assign that employee a Pin Number in the Pin Number field. The pin number must be at least four digits and cannot lead with a zero
- Once you have filled in the required fields, click on the Roles tab
- Once under the roles tab, click on the Employee Role dropdown to assign an employee permission role to the employee you are creating (for more information on employee roles, see the below FAQ. For more information on how to create a custom employee permissions role, please see this article)
- Once you have assigned an employee permission role, you can now turn on the modules you wish to give access to that employee. To do so, toggle on the modules under the Permissions box
- Click Save Changes in the bottom right
Steps: Part Two
To edit an existing employee, follow the below steps:
- Log into foreUP
- Click on the top-left module dropdown and select Employees
- Find the employee you wish to edit from the list, click on the actions down arrow on the far right of that employee, and select Edit
- You can now edit the employee
- Be sure to click Save Changes in the bottom right once you have finished your edits
FAQ:
Q: Can I require complex passwords for my employee's login password?
A: Yes. Once in the Employee module, click Actions in the top right and select Page Settings. Check the box Require Complex Passwords. Finally, click Save Changes in the bottom right
Q: What do the different default Employee Roles mean?
A: There are three default employee roles in the software:
- Admin: This permission role will allow you full access to any module you can find in your module dropdown
- Manager: This permission role will allow full access to any module you can find in your module dropdown except for the ability to delete sales
- Employee: This permission role will not allow the employee to do the following: delete sales, access sales settings, give discounts larger than the max discount, and edit employee roles.
Q: Of the modules I do give my employees access to, can I further lock down what they can and cannot do in those modules?
A: Yes, please see this article for instructions on how to create a custom employee role
Q: Can I automatically log out idle employees?
A: Yes. Once in the Employee module, click Actions in the top right and select Page Settings. Check the box Automatically log out idle employees. Fill in the minutes box with how many minutes you want an idle employee to automatically be logged out. Finally, click Save Changes in the bottom right.
Q: Can I force my employees to change their password after so many days?
A: Yes. Once in the Employee module, click Actions in the top right and select Page Settings. Check the box Force Employees to Change Password. Fill in the Days box to require your employees to change their password after that many days. Finally, click Save Changes in the bottom right.
