Overview
This article will outline step-by-step instructions for cancelling a credit card sale. In order to increase the flexibility with credit card sales we have created a 'cancel' button when processing credit cards. This will allow you to cancel a sale and void the charge on a card that does not appear to be going through the system.
Preconditions
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
- Access to the Sales module
- Must have credit card devices set up and registered to a foreUP account
Steps
Follow the below steps to cancel a credit card sale:
1. After selecting credit card in the 'Pay Now' screen, a 'Cancel' button will appear in the pop-up.
2. If you need to cancel a card while processing simply click 'Cancel'.
3. You can then re-select 'Credit Card', allow the screen to load and then swipe the card again.
NOTE: By hitting cancel you are voiding a credit card swipe. As soon as you push 'Credit Card' in the 'Pay Now' screen the window is live and has the potential to send information to your processor. (For this reason, you need to wait for the screen to fully load and prompt you to swipe before running a card. Pressing "Cancel" will void the charge, so only click this box if you want to stop payment from sending to the processor)
