Opening your Cash Drawer

Overview:

This article will follow step by step instructions on physically opening your cash drawer from the sales module.

Preconditions:

Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.

• Access to the Sales Module.
• A Printer Driven Cash Drawer connected to your Printer.

Steps:

Follow the below steps to open your cash drawer:

1. Go to the Sales module
2. Click the open "Cash Drawer" button at the bottom of the sales page to pop open your cash drawer.

Q: Why won't my cash drawer pop open when I select the cash drawer button?

A: You must have your printer driven cash drawer connected to your printer. First check that the cord coming from the back of the cash drawer is connected to your foreUP printer. Then check that there is no damage to that cord as cord damage may be preventing the drawer from opening. If you are still having trouble, try switching the cord around so that the side once connected to the printer is now connected to the cash drawer and vice versa. If your cash drawer still does not pop open, please reach out to support for assistance. 

Q: How do I get my cash drawer to automatically pop open when I complete a cash transaction?

A: Make sure that the setting to open the cash drawer on cash payment is selected. To find this setting go to the Settings module > Sales > Printing and Terminals > Open Cash Drawer on Cash Payment.
