How to Set Up the Select Pi Range Integration

Overview

This article explains how to set up the Select Pi range ball dispenser integration in foreUP.

Once configured, range bucket items sold through the Sales module will print a receipt with a QR code and PIN. Golfers can scan the QR code or enter the PIN at the Select Pi dispenser to receive the correct bucket size.

Preconditions

The following requirements must be completed before setting up the integration:

• Your foreUP contract must include the Sales module.
• You must have access to the following foreUP modules:
  • Settings
  • Inventory
  • Sales
• You must obtain your Select Pi credentials directly from Select Pi.

Select Pi credentials are required to connect your foreUP account to your Select Pi account. The integration will not work until valid credentials are entered in foreUP.

The required Select Pi credential fields are:

• Select Pi Tenant ID
• Select Pi Username
• Select Pi Passkey
• Select Pi Role

Setup Process

Setting up the Select Pi integration is a two-step process:

1. Enter the Select Pi credentials in foreUP
2. Configure your range bucket inventory items

Step 1: Enter the Select Pi Credentials

After you receive your Select Pi credentials, follow the steps below to enter them in foreUP.

1. Log in to foreUP.
2. Click the top-left module dropdown.
3. Select Settings.
4. In the left column, select Sales.
5. In the blue column, select Printing and Terminals.
6. On the Printing and Terminals page, locate the Range Ball Integration Credentials section.
7. 
8. Click Change.
9. Enter the Select Pi credentials into the appropriate fields:
   • Select Pi Tenant ID
   • Select Pi Username
   • Select Pi Passkey
   • Select Pi Role
10. Click Save Settings in the top-right corner.

After saving the credentials, continue to Step 2 to configure your range bucket inventory items.

Step 2: Configure Range Bucket Inventory Items

Each range bucket item in foreUP must be mapped to the correct Select Pi bucket size. This mapping determines which bucket size the dispenser will release when that item is sold.

Important: If the wrong Select Pi bucket size is selected on an inventory item, the dispenser may release the wrong bucket size.

1. Log in to foreUP.
2. Click the top-left module dropdown.
3. Select Inventory.
4. If needed, create your range bucket inventory items as RETAIL items. 
   Examples: Small Range Bucket, Medium Range Bucket, Large Range Bucket, King Range Bucket
5. Find and select the range bucket item you want to configure.
6. On the inventory item’s Edit screen, locate the Select Pi Bucket Size dropdown.
7. 
8. Select the Select Pi bucket size that matches the inventory item.
9. Click Save Changes in the bottom-right corner.
10. Repeat these steps for each range bucket inventory item that should generate a Select Pi QR code and PIN.

Test the Integration

After the credentials and inventory items are configured, test the integration before using it with customers.

1. Go to the Sales module.
2. Sell one of the configured range bucket inventory items.
3. Print the receipt.
4. Confirm the receipt includes a Select Pi QR code and PIN.
5. Scan the QR code or enter the PIN at the Select Pi dispenser.
6. Confirm the dispenser releases the correct bucket size.

If the receipt does not include a QR code or PIN, review the troubleshooting section below.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

• Selling a duplicate inventory item that does not have a Select Pi bucket size selected.
• Forgetting to save changes after selecting the Select Pi bucket size.
• Creating range bucket items as the wrong inventory item type.
• Entering incorrect Select Pi credentials.
• Testing the integration before both setup steps are complete.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The printed receipt does not include a QR code or PIN.

Try the following:

• Confirm the Select Pi credentials entered in foreUP are correct.
• Confirm the inventory item has a Select Pi bucket size selected.
• Confirm the item sold in the Sales module is the same item that was configured in Inventory.
• Confirm the item sold was not a duplicate or older inventory item.
• Save the inventory item again after selecting the bucket size, then run another test sale.

Issue: The wrong bucket size is dispensed.

Check the inventory item and confirm the selected Select Pi Bucket Size matches the item being sold.

Issue: The QR code or PIN prints, but the dispenser does not release balls.

Confirm the code is being scanned or entered correctly at the Select Pi dispenser. If the code is correct and the dispenser still does not release balls, contact Select Pi to confirm the dispenser is online and configured properly.
