Overview:
A member discount can be a great way to take care of your members and increase sales. This article will go over how to create a member discount using the Promotions module. (e.g.: members get 10% off pro shop merchandise and 15% off F&B items).
Preconditions:
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
- Access to the following modules:
- Promotions module. (To verify you have access to the Promotions module, click on the top-left dropdown and select "Promotions". If this module does not show up, please contact our Support Team at support@foreup.com or 800-929-5737 to gain access in your foreUP account.)
- Point of Sale or F&B module.
- A Customer Group to connect to the promotion. (Follow the steps in this article to create and assign a new customer group to your members if you don't already have your members assigned to a member customer group)
Steps:
Follow the below steps to create a member discount using the promotions module:
- From the top-left module dropdown, select "Promotions"
- Click "New Promotion+" in the top right
- Give the promotion a name in the Promotion Name field (e.g.: Member Pro Shop Discount)
- Whichever option makes the most sense for your member discount, set the discount at a specific dollar amount or a percentage
- Check the "Auto-apply Promotion" box if you wish the promotion to be automatically applied
- Under the Conditions section, click "+Add New Condition"
- From the Select Field dropdown, select "Customer Group"
- Click into the Value field and type in the name of the applicable customer group (e.g.: Member), select it from the dropdown, and click "Save" (You have now set this promotion to be triggered by the customer group you selected which means only customers who are assigned to that customer group will be eligible to receive the discount. Follow the steps below to now select which items in your inventory qualify for the discount)
- Click "+Add New Condition" and from the Select Field dropdown, select one of the following options depending on how specific you need to be: Item Department, Item Category, Item Subcategory, or Item
- Once one of the above is selected, click into the Value field, search for the applicable name (e.g.: Pro Shop), select it from the dropdown, and click "Save"
- At this point, your new promotion will look similar to the screenshot below:
- Click "Save" in the bottom right
Repeat the above steps if you have an additional member discount.
Now, any customer you add to the selected customer group will receive the discount when the applicable item(s) are added to the shopping cart of a sale.
