Overview:
Food & Beverage Modifiers are a great way to add many different customization options to a F&B Inventory item without creating additional items.
- Part One: Creating a Modifier.
- Part Two: Assigning Modifiers to F&B Inventory Items (Individually & Bulk Edit).
- Part Three: Using Modifiers in the F&B module.
Preconditions:
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
- Access to the following modules:
- Food & Beverage
- Inventory: Food & Beverage
Steps: Part One
Follow the below steps to create a modifier:
- Go to Inventory > Food & Bev.
- Click on "Modifiers".
- In the Manage Modifiers screen, enter in the information for your modifier:
- Modifier Name: The name of the modifier which can show up on kitchen receipts.

Options:
- Label: The different modifications offered with the current modifier. Click "Add Option" to create more options.
- Price: The cost to the customer to add the option in the modifer.

Category: You can organize your modifiers into three different categories that show up when selecting the modifiers in the F&B module.
- Customize: (Example; Add Bacon, Add Guacamole, Add Grilled Onion, etc. options for a burger)
- Condiments: (Example; Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, etc.)
- Cook Temperature: (Example; Rare, Medium, Well Done)
- Multi-Select: Allows multiple options to be selected from a modifier.
- Required: Requires an employee to select an option in a modifier before the food can be ordered and sent to the kitchen printers.
- Click "Add Modifier". Your Modifier will be saved in the Manage Modifiers screen in the Modifiers list.
Steps: Part Two
Follow the below steps to assign modifiers to F&B inventory items:
- Option 1: Assigning modifiers to F&B inventory Items Individually:

- Go to Inventory > Food & Bev
- Select the F&B Item you will be adding modifiers to and click on the "Modifiers" tab.
- Click on the "Add New Modifier" drop-down to reveal a list of your already created modifiers. Select the modifier from the list that will be added to the current items modifiers options.
- All selected modifiers will appear in the Modifier view list.
- A Default Modifier Option can be selected from your modifier options (Example Below: The allergies modifier has been defaulted to "None" which will be updated by servers if advised by the customer)
- Click "Save Changes"

Option 2: Assigning modifiers to multiple F&B inventory items using 'Bulk Edit':
- Go to Inventory > Food & Bev
- Click on the "Checkboxes" next to all the F&B items you want to add modifiers to in bulk.
- Click "Bulk Edit" near the bottom right of the screen. (NOTE: you can not bulk edit from the "All" Inventory tab)
- On the Bulk Edit screen, scroll down and click the "Modifiers" checkbox.
- Using the Drop-down menu, select what type of change you will be making to the current selection of F&B inventory items in bulk;
- Replace All With - Will replace the F&B items currently assigned modifiers with the new selection of modifiers.
- Add to Existing - Will add the current selection of modifiers to the F&B items without changing any already assigned modifiers on the item.
- Remove from Existing - Will remove the current selection of modifiers from the F&B item.
- Clear All - Will remove ALL modifiers from the selected F&B items.
- After you have selected which type of edit you will make, click on the Modifiers Drop-down menu to see a list of your already created modifiers.
- Select the options from the Modifiers Drop-down menu and they will appear in the "Modifier View". (A Default Modifier Option can be selected from your modifier options. Example Below: The allergies modifier has been defaulted to "None" which will be updated by employees if advised by the customer)
- After all applicable modifiers have been added, click "Confirm". (You will have one more opportunity to verify your changes on the next page before the bulk edit begins)
- Review the changes you are making to the current F&B item selection and click "Start Edit".
- Your Bulk Edit will begin. (You can close this page and work on other things while the bulk edit works in the background)
- Once the Bulk Edit is completed the bulk edit screen will update with a message that says, "Bulk Edit Complete!" (Refresh your chrome browser to see the update on the items)
Steps: Part Three
Follow the below steps to use modifiers in the F&B module:
- Using the top-left module drop-down menu go to F&B.
- Open a new tab or select an already open one.
- Add an item to the Ticket.
- Click on the "Pencil Icon" to open up the F&B items options and attached modifiers.
- Select any needed modifiers and click "Save Order".
