Overview
This article will provide step-by-step instructions to set up and power your Ingenico Link 2500 credit card device and register it in the foreUP software.
Preconditions
The following conditions must be in place before you can activate the Link 2500 credit card device in your foreUP software account:
- Your foreUP Payments processing credentials must be configured and entered on the backend of your foreUP account (If you are unsure if this is the case, please contact your Implementation Specialist or our Support Team)
- Terminals already created in your foreUP software account (e.g.: Pro Shop 1, Pro Shop 2, Server Station, etc.)
- Unbox the device and ensure the required components are present:
- Link 2500
- Charging cable (USB-C to USB-A cable)
- You will need a USB-A wall adapter to charge the device (NOT included in the box)
- Access to a secure Wi-Fi network
- Minimum network speeds are at least 10 Mbps
Important IT Information
If your network is configured with firewalls or other traffic restrictions, please ensure your network is configured with the following items (you may need to consult an IT professional to assist with your network configuration):
- Ensure the network configuration is not blocking access to the following URLs and ports:
- tripos.vantiv.com HTTPS on port 443
- device.tripos.vantiv.com TCP on port 9001
- The network is using ONLY WPA2-PSK encryption
- We recommend using a 2.4ghz connection, however, both 2.4ghz and 5ghz are supported
Power on the Link 2500 Device
To get started, follow the initial steps below to power up your Link 2500 device and obtain an activation code (this activation code will be used to register the device in your foreUP software account):
- Plug in the USB-C end of the charging cable into the Link 2500 device, plug in the USB-A end of the charging cable into a USB-A wall adapter, and plug in the wall adapter to a power outlet to charge the device to 100%
- After the device is charged to 100%, power the device on if it is not already powered on by pressing the Green button
- Ensure the router or wireless access point is near the device and in line of sight to ensure no interruptions
- After the welcome screen sequence, press 0-0-0-1 on the pin pad to pull up the admin window
- Press 2 for Wi-Fi Parameters (alternatively, you can use the down arrows on the pin pad to get get to Wi-Fi Parameters)
- Press 2 for Scan Networks
- Locate your secure Wi-Fi in the list of networks displayed using the up and down arrows and select it from the list by pressing the green button
- Enter the Wi-Fi password using the pin pad as a T9 keyboard (use the F key to switch between letters and numbers) and press the green button when finished. The Wi-Fi symbol at the top of the reader will turn green, indicating a successful connection to the Wi-Fi network
- Once the password has been successfully entered, the device should populate an activation code. If the device does not display an activation code, restart the device by pressing the yellow and # buttons simultaneously (should the device say, "shut down in progress" instead of restarting, allow the device to shut down and then press the green button to turn it back on again)
- Once the device turns on again, it should populate an activation code (if the device does not populate an activation code, see the FAQ section below for troubleshooting steps)
Register the Link 2500 in the foreUP Software
Follow the steps below to register the Link 2500 credit card reader in your foreUP software account:
- Log into foreUP
- Click on the top-left module dropdown and select Settings

- Click on the blue button Manage Credit Card Device on the right (If this button is not shown, contact foreUP Support)
- Click Add Device in the top right
- On the Register Credit Card Devices page, fill in the following information:
- Device Name: Name the device the same name as the terminal you wish to register the device to (e.g.: Bev Cart)
- Device Type: Click on the dropdown and select LINK 2500
- Device Activation Code: Enter the device activation code displayed on the Link 2500 screen. This code will start with the letter "P" followed by six numbers. The activation code resets every 15 minutes, so be sure you have the device's current activation code. IMPORTANT: Ensure the router or wireless access point is near the device and in line of sight to ensure no interruptions during this registration process.
- Terminal: Click the dropdown and select which terminal you want to register the Link 2500 to
- Click Register Device in the bottom right
- You will get a loading screen that may last several minutes while the software registers your device.
- The Link 2500 device itself will restart and return to the home TriPOS screen
- The loading screen in foreUP will disappear once the device is successfully registered. You will see a green "Device Successfully Registered" confirmation message in the bottom right. Once you see this message, click Save Changes in the bottom right and refresh your browser, or, if you are registering another device, click Add Device in the top right and repeat the above steps
After you have successfully registered the device and refreshed your browser, we HIGHLY recommend navigating to the Sales module and running a test transaction.
