Overview:
Gift Cards are a great way for courses to increase sales by creating and selling them to customers in the Sales Module.
Preconditions:
Preconditions are the necessary settings, permissions, and items created in your software to allow the feature to work.
- Access to the Inventory Module
Steps:
Follow the below steps to create a Gift Card using the Inventory Module:
1. Go to "Inventory".
2. Click the "Gift Cards" section at the top.
3. Click the "New Gift Card" button on the right.
4. Fill in the information for the new Gift Card you're creating.

- Item Name: The name used for the item.
- Department: The revenue department for this item.
- Category: Refers to the category to be used for reporting purposes.
- Subcategory: Subcategory for reporting purposes.
- GL Code: If you use a General Ledger code, insert that code here.
- UPC#: The SKU/UPC/Item ID number
- Additional UPC's: If the item is going to have more than one UPC number, enter it here.
- Service Fees: Here you can add service fees if you have service fees set up.
- Customer Groups: This is where you can attach a certain customer group if you want them to receive a discount on this item.
- Receipt Agreement: Here you can add a receipt agreement that has been previously set up in the Settings module.
- Quantity: Amount you have in stock. This can be marked as 'Unlimited'.
- Unit Price: The selling price; what the customer pays. For gift cards, this is normally set to $0.00 in inventory and changed depending on how much the customer would like on the gift card.
- Unit Cost: The cost of the item; what the course pays for it.
- Max Discount: The maximum discount percentage allowed without manager approval. *Do NOT use a decimal here, use the percentage amount. For example: For a 20% max discount, type in "20," not "0.20"
- There are no options for tax because gift cards are not taxed
5. After you've filled out the required fields, click "Save Changes" in the bottom right corner.
